Frequently Asked Questions
The Wolfman is rated for use on a few rifle calibers with some restrictions to the mounting solution. The Wolfman can be used with 5.56, 7.62×39, .300 Blackout, and .350 Legend as long as it is mounted to the MicroBrake. The KeyMicro Adapter (DA451) will need to be installed on the Wolfman in order to mount it to a MicroBrake.
Yes, the Wolfman, Sandman, Nomad, Primal, and Wolverine end caps are interchangeable. We call these “R-Series” front caps. Use on rifles cartridges is recommended for subsonic ammunition for the best user experience.
This is not required for proper function with a 5.56 firearm. Adding a 5.56 front cap will add to some added suppression of the silencer when paired with the 5.56 projectile. Be sure to NOT shoot 7.62 through a 5.56 front cap!
The flash hider does not require timing and performance will not be affected without timing. The only reason to time the flash hider is to get the indexing point in a desired location.
Yes, the Sandman can mount to any Keymount compatible muzzle device. The Nomad with Keymo can also mount to the MicroBrake.
Yes, the legacy pistons from SilencerCo, Rugged, and Griffin Armament will work with the Odessa-9. However, they tend to have a longer overall length than the Dead Air Odessa pistons.Â
No, only Dead Air pistons are compatible with these suppressors.
A booster assembly and piston should not be used on a fixed barrel, unless you swap out the booster spring for our fixed barrel spacer. The fixed barrel spacer will make the booster assembly mimic the function of a fixed mount. Using the booster assembly and piston on a fixed barrel with the spring in place can risk damage to the piston. Watch the video on our fixed barrel spacer.
In order to use the Wolfman on a handgun with a tilting barrel action, you’ll need to utilize the booster assembly and correct piston. The fixed mount that comes with the Wolfman is not suitable for use on a handgun.Â
The booster assembly and piston are required when mounting a suppressor to a handgun with a tiling barrel or Browning style action. The booster assembly and piston will allow the handgun to cycle with the weight of a suppressor on the end of the barrel. Watch video.
Nomad: 5/8-24 direct thread insert.
Sandman: 5/8-24 Keymount muzzle brake.
Wolverine: 14mmx1 LH thread insert and collar.
Ghost-45: The Ghost will come with a booster assembly included. You will still need a piston that matches the thread pitch of the threaded barrel you intend to mount it to.
Wolfman: 1/2-28 fixed mount.
Odessa: 1/2-28 piston and booster.
Mask: 1/2-28 fixed mount.
Yes, the Flash hider front caps reduce the majority of excess flash on all R-series suppressors.
For 9mm sub guns – Wolfman
For 45 ACP sub guns – Primal
We do not have a specific torque spec for direct thread, but do not exceed 30 ft. lbs.
A QD system like our Xeno or Keymo is always superior to direct thread, no matter the action type of your host rifle.
In the past, end caps for some products utilized a tool with small pins (DA203) and others utilized a tool with large pins (DA208). We have since updated all end caps to use the large pin tool. If you’re experiencing compatibility issues with your end cap and end cap tool, please reach out to customer service at info@deadairsilencers.com.
